In Time Travellers, escaperoom on wheels the iconic Dutch videogame Vakantieracer, a sequel to the famous A2 Racer, has been reinvented.
The installation uses a mechanically navigable Fiat Panda as an arcade simulator in conjunction with a big LED-screen and augmented reality-glasses. The result is a total mix of physical and digital realities in which the player receives both digital and analogue clues and archived video materials from the collection of the Netherlands Institute voor Sound and Vision.
The goal? Easy! Just make your way to the south of France as quick and safe as possible.
Inside of the attraction you will travel through time: a new experience for the youngest generations that have never experienced this before and a trip down memory lane for older
generations. As a result, Time Travellers challenges different generations to think about new ways of storytelling and about our recent digital cultural heritage.
Time Travellers has been made in collaboration with The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. In the recent years, they have started with the preparation of archiving videogame heritage. The first Dutch games to be archived are Eindeloos (1985), Jazz Jackrabbit (1994) and A2 Racer (1997).
