Looking for a unique event venue centrally located in the Netherlands for meetings, company outings, conferences, off-sites or other events? Come to SHELTER610! Set at Park Vliegbasis Soesterberg, a former military airbase, this venue can host groups from 25 up to 550 guests in an 800 m² shelter. It’s nestled in a stunning nature reserve managed by Utrechts Landschap, just off the A28 between Utrecht and Amersfoort a one-of-a-kind place where creativity, heritage, technology and nature come together.
Park Vliegbasis Soesterberg is a historic airbase, now designated as a protected nature reserve. One of the former aircraft shelters has been reimagined as an inspiring, interactive space for corporate parties, meetings, training sessions, conferences and other daytime or evening events.
Immersive and interactive media installations as an inspiring setting for your event
This venue is built around a distinctive concept. The shelter houses a range of interactive media installations by media design collective DROPSTUFF MEDIA, created in collaboration with various museums and museum collections. Through these installations, guests can experience tomorrow’s stories, the imagination behind creative processes, and the wonder of emerging technology. It offers the perfect starting point for rethinking established ways of working and developing new ideas.
In this truly unique ‘new media playground’, your guests can personally experience the possibilities of immersive media such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and artificial intelligence. Game consoles, an AI-powered candy shop and a proper photo booth round off the day in surprising style. The venue provides the perfect starting point and context for collaborative innovation and transformation processes — and it’s equally well suited to a great party with a fantastic BBQ.
Meetings and presentations at SHELTER610
The shelter features a spacious central plaza with a large LED screen (3 × 4 metres!), a stage and a built-in audio system. Behind it stands a transparent ‘dome’ tent for smaller gatherings of up to around 65 guests, plus two additional rooms for break-out sessions. We’re happy to work with you on the goals of your day and the options available — from workshops and games to team-building activities, speakers, moderators, technical setups and even a DJ to keep the music going. With standard facilities including audiovisual equipment, lighting, tables, chairs and flip charts, you have the perfect home base for your event. On the catering side, we offer a quality selection of freshly brewed coffee and tea, snacks and drinks, and options for lunch, brunch, drinks receptions and dinner. In collaboration with our catering partner, we’d be glad to put together a tailored package for you.
Take a break and enjoy nature!
This is the perfect place to recharge in a beautiful nature reserve. We offer scenic walking and cycling routes around the airbase, optionally accompanied by a guide from Utrechts Landschap, a firm favourite with the guests who have visited SHELTER610 so far!
In the heart of the Netherlands, for groups of every size
Park Vliegbasis Soesterberg is centrally located along the A28 between Utrecht and Amersfoort, and is easily accessible by both car and public transport. Free parking is available on site, and buses run from Den Dolder station. OV-fiets rental bikes are available at Den Dolder (1.8 km) and Bilthoven (3.5 km) stations, and we can arrange additional rental bikes on request.
SHELTER610 comfortably accommodates groups of up to around 350 guests, with larger groups available on request. In collaboration with Utrechts Landschap, a second shelter, set up as a large plenary hall, can be added, bringing the combined capacity to around 550 guests. The outdoor space directly in front of the shelter is also available: a stunning setting for a BBQ or company drinks.
