Mediaplein Mobiel
Mediaplein Mobiel is a traveling mini-media-museum highlighting the story of Hilversummers in honor of Hilversum’s 600th anniversary. From April through December 2024, the mobile media pavilion will tour through Hilversum’s neighborhoods.
Public Participation
In collaboration with elementary schools, community centers and care centers, participants give their perspective on the city by depicting it in a diorama. How do they see the city’s future? What memories do they cherish of Hilversum? What is their favorite place in Hilversum? This can be done by cutting and pasting, but also by using digital means and by using photos and videos from the collection of the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision. And by using the participants’ own photos and drawings. In addition, each participant can also add an audio commentary, other sounds and a portrait photo.
Life-size mini-media museum
The Mediaplein Mobiel is an XXL version of the peeping box: a ‘mini-media museum’ full of large digital screens and media technologies. Participants can scan their created diorama, after which it can be seen life-size in the Mediaplein Mobiel, including audio explanations and other sounds. With Mediaplein Mobiel, the Hilversum 600 celebration comes to the neighborhoods in a way befitting a Media City: Telling and creating stories together. ‘Mediaplein Mobile: The stories of 600 years of Hilversum’ is a project of the Mediaplein Foundation in collaboration with the Hilversum media arts collective DROPSTUFF MEDIA, which has been appointed program director of the Mediaplein Foundation since July 2023.
